CEO at Sullivan County Community Hospital, IN
Michelle Franklin is the CEO of Sullivan County Community Hospital, a critical access hospital in rural central southwestern Indiana. Michelle has over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare field. As a Registered Nurse, her clinical experience has included medical-surgical nursing, nursing management, staff education and development, home health care, and hospice management. In addition to these roles, she has had the honor of serving in senior leader positions at her hospital in both the Chief Nursing and Chief Executive Officer roles; careers that have spanned 25 years.
In her current role as CEO, Michelle oversees several clinical departments. Since 2016, she has served as Initiative Champion for her organization’s “Journey to Excellence”. This was a deliberate initiative designed to engage employees in the work of the organization, improve the quality of care given, and enhance the customer service experience. This has resulted in a $2 million dollar uptick in net revenue, improved patient satisfaction scores, improved willingness to recommend scores, and high employment engagement rates. In 2019 and 2022, her organization received Press Ganey’s Guardian of Excellence Employee Engagement Award. Her organization was also recognized by Press Ganey as a 2022 Human Experience Award winner.
Michelle is married with two children and two fur babies. Her hobbies include reading, gardening, cooking, and state-side as well as international travel.
What we love about Michelle . . .
When we met Michelle for the very first time, she was in our audience at a Leadership Summit with her CNO and HR Leader. They were determined that they were going to put everything they learned in place back in their hospital in Sullivan, IN. Three years later, they invited us to French Lick, IN to provide the same training to every leader in their organization.
Over lunch, Michelle informed us we had a contract with her hospital to partner with them to implement the Capstone Framework for Achieving Great Results©, and “oh by the way, I am leading the initiative as the CEO”.
We IMMEDIATELY advised “You can’t do that. It’s too much for a CEO to lead a journey AND be a CEO of a growing hospital.”
Well, “can’t” is NOT in Michelle’s vocabulary. Her executives, who knew her best, reassured us that she was perfect for the job, and that no one else would lead like Michelle.
They were absolutely correct. Michelle has infused her organization with her strength and convictions, and magic has happened at Sullivan County Community Hospital – and we are honored to be a part of it!

President/CEO at Grant Regional Health Center, WI
Tami Chambers joined Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, Wisconsin, as the Chief Clinical Officer in October 2018 and now serves as President/CEO. Before joining Grant Regional Health Center, Tami was employed at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health as the Pain Management Program Director. Her past clinical positions and years of experience at UW Health gave her the leadership experience and knowledge to direct clinical departments as well as provide insight into new programs and services. Tami achieved her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Edgewood College and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from the University of Phoenix.
Tami is truly passionate about leadership and is excited to collaborate with Capstone partners to continue the journey of leadership growth and development. Tami is an early adopter of change and serves as an advocate, coach, and encourager to those she has the honor to serve. She is passionate about empowering, inspiring, and providing leadership direction and development to others to enhance their leadership performance through business strategy and accountability.
What we love about Tami . . .
Tami was just a few weeks into her first ever role as a CNO when we met her. What we first noticed about her was her curiosity, amazing questioning, and superb listening skills.
As the cultural transformation of her organization grew, so did Tami. Early on in our work together, the conference room we “zoomed” into for their steering team meetings had poor camera visibility, but we could always recognize Tami’s voice seeking to understand the evidence and research behind initiatives before she blindly put them into practice in her departments.
We know her to be an extremely courageous leader, and one that knows how to draw the best from everyone around her. The results of the patient and employee experience – and growth and financial improvements – speaks for her leadership!
